The Alibi Room has been running under its current ownership since July 1 2003.

The head honcho, James Straker, had previously worked in the music business for around 10 years managing bands like Magic Dirt & Something For Kate.

In his earlier days he also ran a collectables shop in Brisbane called Silver Rocket and played in a band called the Melniks (waaaaaay back in the day kids)

A seemingly perverse desire to create Brisbane’s first and (still) only Tiki Bar, saw the Alibi Room surge ahead and slowly but surely cement its place in the cities collective belly.

Drawing inspiration from the pop culture that has surrounded him during hislife, there is a little of all of his previous endeavours here at the Alibi Room.

Art, music, toys, magazines and just plain old weird stuff on the walls!!
